MPs' sanity worries?
Politicians offer to legitimize compulsory medical check-up for all MPs. According to LNK(1Apr.2005)this idea was brought up because 11 days ago a member of Seimas Petras Grazulis, later joined by Egidijus Klumbys, went on hunger strike and have only been having water ever since. By their strike these two MPs pursue the resignation of Foreign Affairs Minister A.Valionis and Chief of State Security Department A.Pocius.
Thirty members of the Seimas have signed an appeal to end the hunger strike. The Chairperson of the Seimas Arturas Paulauskas did not undertake to decide whether Grazulis and Klumbys still can represent the electorate.
Meanwhile in the parliament, it was offered to legalize compulsory physical and mental health check-up for the members of Seimas, results of which should be announced publicly. It was already suggested once last year but never was implemented.
